Aid network

The German Cleft Children’s Aid Society operates according to the principle of helping others to help themselves, that means that we develop competence centres and supporting structures in the respective countries that are run by local staff and are linked into an international network of specialists.

The most important part besides the immediate help of the affected cleft children is the development of independence and self-responsibility of the involved project partners and the expansion of our international network so that it itself will be able to advance and support the help for the children.

By networking our project partners and specialists beyond the borders of countries and beliefs a tested network composed of several different parts has evolved, advancing the treatment of children with cleft lips and palates in a comprehensive and interdisciplinary manner.

Be it the German physician who works on a voluntary basis training colleagues in Cameroon...

• the surgeon in Vietnam, who also performs the surgery on children on a voluntary basis...
• the Indian partner organisation, providing further training to surgeons from Africa...
• or the conference in Vietnam, where physicians from all corners of the globe come together to exchange their expertise...
• be it the helpers from Germany and Switzerland who pass on their expertise in different disciplines to the project partners...
• the companies and manufacturers, providing equipment and medical supplies...
• or our donors and supporters who make the surgery possible in the first place.

Each and every one of them helps to make our network become a unique and sustainable aid concept for the comprehensive treatment of children with cleft lips and palates.
